"switching to keyless entry didn't really have much impact on the sticking itself—it's more about convenience than anything else."

Totally agree with this. I switched to keyless entry on a couple of my rental properties, and while it didn't solve any door alignment or humidity issues, it definitely streamlined things for tenants and maintenance access. One unexpected bonus: fewer lockouts and late-night calls from tenants who've misplaced keys. So yeah, not a fix for sticking doors, but still worth it overall for convenience and peace of mind.

Yeah, keyless entry is great for convenience, but definitely won't fix alignment issues or humidity swelling. I installed one on our back door last summer and ended up still having to shave down the door edge a bit when the humidity kicked in. Still, not fumbling for keys with grocery bags in hand makes it totally worth it... just don't toss out your sandpaper and chisels yet, haha.

Haha, totally feel you on the humidity struggle. I put in a keyless lock on our side door last spring and thought I'd finally conquered the whole "sticky door" issue... nope. First humid day rolled around and there I was, sanding and chiseling again. But honestly, even with that minor hassle, it's still been a game changer. Coming home late or juggling kids and groceries without having to dig through pockets for keys is such a relief. Plus, no more panic moments of "did I lock the door?" when I'm halfway down the street—just tap a button on my phone and done.

Sounds like you've got it handled though, and hey, at least we're keeping our woodworking skills sharp, right?

Yeah, humidity's definitely a sneaky culprit—had the same issue when I installed mine last summer. Thought I'd accounted for everything: measured twice, aligned perfectly, even sealed the edges... but nope, nature laughed at my meticulous planning. Ended up tweaking the strike plate a bit, and also applied a silicone-based lubricant to the latch mechanism. Made a noticeable difference, though I still get the occasional sticky day.

You're right though, minor hassles aside, keyless entry has made daily routines way smoother. Can't beat the convenience of tapping your phone and knowing the door's secure, especially when you've got your hands full or your mind elsewhere. And yeah, nothing like forced DIY to keep those woodworking tools from collecting dust.

Haha, humidity really has a way of humbling us DIYers, doesn't it? I remember installing mine thinking I'd nailed it—until the first rainy week hit. Suddenly, the door was sticking like crazy. Ended up shaving down the frame a bit and using some graphite powder on the latch. Worked wonders...mostly. But hey, like you said, at least our tools aren't gathering dust anymore. Small victories, right?
