smart home gadgets: lifesaver or headache waiting to happen?

Okay, confession time...I recently bought a bunch of smart home devices thinking they'd simplify my life, but um, turns out they can be kinda tricky. Like, I accidentally triggered my own security alarm at 2 AM last night (neighbors weren't thrilled). Got me thinking - are you guys careful planners who read every manual, or more like me, diving right in and learning by trial and error? Quick poll:
A) Read everything first
B) Trial and error all the way

That 2 AM alarm is exactly why I lean toward option C. Manuals matter, but during installation or troubleshooting, every smart device should have a clearly labeled manual override and a simple way to pause automations temporarily. Otherwise a motion sensor, lock, or alarm can keep reacting while you’re trying to fix it.
I’d test the override before mounting anything permanently, then label the physical switch or breaker. Cloud-dependent controls are useful, but they shouldn’t be the only way to regain control when the app, Wi-Fi, or automation misbehaves.
