After months of procrastinating and way too many YouTube tutorials, I finally got around to redoing the deck area around our pool. Honestly, I wasn't sure I'd pull it off (I'm not exactly Mr. DIY), but it turned out pretty sweet. Went with composite decking because, you know, splinters are the worst when you're barefoot. Added some built-in benches and even a little pergola for shade—now it's like our own mini resort back there.
The best part was finding these solar-powered lights that line the edges; they give off just enough glow at night without being obnoxious. Had friends over last weekend and got tons of compliments, which felt awesome after all that sweat and frustration.
Curious if anyone else tackled something similar lately or has cool setups they're proud of...would love to hear how it went or see some pics!
Nice job on the deck—composite was definitely the right call. I redid ours a couple summers ago and went with wood, thinking I'd save a few bucks...big mistake. Now I'm stuck sanding and staining every year, which is exactly as fun as it sounds, lol. Those solar lights sound cool though, might have to steal that idea. Got any pics of the pergola setup? Been thinking about adding one myself but haven't quite pulled the trigger yet.
