Last night around 2am, I woke up to the sound of my toilet flushing itself. Freaked me out a bit, not gonna lie. Thought maybe I was dreaming or something, but nope—it happened again this morning while I was brushing my teeth. It's like the toilet has a mind of its own now, randomly flushing every few hours. Has anyone else had their toilet go rogue like this, or is mine just haunted, lol?

Haha, sounds familiar... my old house does stuff like this all the time. Usually it's just the flapper valve inside the tank getting worn out or misaligned, causing water to slowly leak into the bowl until it triggers a flush. But hey, if your place is older like mine, who knows—maybe you've got yourself a friendly ghost with a weird sense of humor. Either way, probably worth checking inside the tank before calling in an exorcist.

Could be, but I've seen a few cases where it's actually the fill valve causing issues. Sometimes sediment buildup or debris can mess with the valve's seal, making it cycle randomly. Had a client convinced their bathroom was haunted until we swapped out the fill valve—ghost vanished overnight. Worth checking both valves before calling Ghostbusters...

Good points there, but have you checked the float level yet? Sometimes if it's set too high, water can slowly trickle into the overflow tube, causing these random ghost flushes. Had a similar issue in a house I was working on last year—drove me nuts trying to figure it out. Messed with the flapper, replaced the fill valve, nothing worked. Finally noticed the float was adjusted just slightly too high, lowered it a bit, and problem solved.

Also, have you noticed any sediment or discoloration in your tank water? If there's debris or mineral buildup, cleaning the tank thoroughly could help. Might save you from buying new parts unnecessarily. Worth a quick check before making another trip to the hardware store...

Yeah, the float adjustment is a good call. Had something similar happen at my old apartment, and it turned out to be the flapper seal not sitting right. It looked fine at first glance, but when I checked closer, it was warped just enough to let water seep through slowly. Swapped it out for a new one, and the random flushes stopped. Might wanna give that a quick look too before diving into more complicated fixes.
