Interesting experience, but do you think polymeric sand is always worth the hassle? I've used it a few times, and even with careful application, I've noticed weeds still popping through after a couple of seasons. Maybe it's just me, but regular sand with occasional maintenance seems simpler and cheaper in the long run. Has anyone else found polymeric sand not quite living up to the hype?
I've had mixed results too, but overall polymeric sand has worked pretty well for me. The trick seems to be getting the joints really clean and dry before applying. Still get a weed or two, but way less than regular sand. Worth it IMO.
I've had decent luck with polymeric sand too, but honestly, weeds seem to find their way into everything eventually...nature always wins, right? One thing I've wondered—has anyone tried sealing over polymeric sand after it's set? Curious if that makes a noticeable difference or just another weekend project that doesn't quite pay off.
I've thought about sealing polymeric sand too, but honestly, it feels like one of those "sounds good in theory" ideas. A buddy of mine tried it last summer—spent a whole weekend sealing his patio after setting polymeric sand. Looked great at first, but within a few months weeds were popping up again anyway. Might buy you a little extra time, but nature's pretty relentless...I'd probably save the effort and just hit it with weed killer every now and then.
I hear you about nature being relentless...tried sealing polymeric sand myself a couple years back, thinking it'd be a neat eco-friendly way to keep weeds down without chemicals. Looked fantastic at first, but yeah, weeds found their way through eventually. Maybe bought me a little extra time, but not sure it was worth the weekend of work. Ever consider planting ground cover or moss between the pavers instead? I've had some luck with creeping thyme—looks nice and helps crowd out weeds naturally.
