Yeah, I totally get what you mean. Digital models are super handy for planning, but there’s just stuff they can’t capture. I’ve had finishes swapped last minute because a pipe showed up that nobody saw coming—made me rethink the whole palette on site. Weekly walk-throughs might seem like a lot, but honestly, I’d rather catch surprises early than scramble later. Sometimes you just need to see how things actually fit together in real life, you know?

Totally hear you on the digital models missing stuff. I love a good BIM file, but there’s always that one duct or pipe that’s like, “Surprise, I live here now.” Weekly walk-throughs can feel like overkill, but honestly, I’d rather spot a weird alignment or material clash in person than try to fix it later. Nothing like seeing sunlight hit a wall and realizing the color’s all wrong... Digital’s great for planning, but real life always throws curveballs.

Totally get that. Had a bathroom reno where the plans looked perfect, but once I got in there, the vent was right where the mirror was supposed to go. Ended up moving stuff around on the fly. Digital models are super helpful, but nothing beats actually standing in the space and catching those “surprises” before they turn into bigger headaches. Sometimes feels like overkill, but it saves me stress later.

I had a similar “wait, what?” moment when I started pulling up the old tile in my kitchen. The plans looked fine on paper and in the 3D model, but once I was actually standing there, I realized the fridge door would block the pantry if both were open at the same time. Didn’t even cross my mind until I could physically move around in the space. I get why people love digital models—they’re super cool for visualizing stuff—but sometimes it’s just not the same as being there.

Weekly meetings felt like overkill to me at first, but after running into a couple of those “surprises,” I started to appreciate having regular check-ins. It’s easier to talk things through in real time and catch issues before they snowball. Maybe it depends on how complicated the project is, but for my sanity, a mix of both has been working out better than just relying on digital plans.

That fridge/pantry thing is classic—happens more than folks realize. I always tell people, “Walk the space if you can, even if it’s just taping outlines on the floor.” Digital models are great for big-picture stuff, but like you said,

“once I was actually standing there, I realized the fridge door would block the pantry if both were open at the same time.”
Weekly meetings can feel like a lot, but they’re usually where those little “gotchas” come up before it’s too late. Out of curiosity, did you ever try doing a physical mock-up with cardboard or painter’s tape? Sometimes that helps bridge the gap between digital and real-world.
