- Totally agree, screens just don’t show you the weird stuff you find in old houses.
- Weekly meetings help, but I’ve caught more surprises just walking around with a tape measure.
- Tried using a tablet with the plans once—helped spot a window that was off by a few inches.
- Honestly, nothing beats seeing it in person, but having both is handy. Digital’s great for reference, but your eyes catch what the model misses.

I hear you on the digital models—they’re a lifesaver for quick checks and sharing info, but I’ve lost count of the times I’ve found something weird just by being on site. There’s always that one pipe or wall that’s not where it should be, no matter what the plans say. Weekly meetings are good for keeping everyone in the loop, but nothing replaces actually walking through the place. Still, having both tools in your belt just makes sense these days.

I get the appeal of walking the site—there’s something about seeing the chaos in person that a screen just can’t capture. But honestly, I’m starting to lean more on digital models lately. Maybe I’m just tired of chasing people down for updates or playing “telephone” in those meetings where half the team zones out anyway. At least with a shared model, everyone can check stuff on their own time and you’ve got a record of what changed and when.

Not saying it’s perfect (I’ve definitely seen some wild surprises behind drywall), but sometimes those weekly meetings feel like they drag on with stuff that could’ve been an email. Maybe I’m just getting lazy... or allergic to conference room chairs. Either way, if I had to pick, give me the digital tools and let me wander around with my coffee when I want to double-check things.

I totally get where you’re coming from. Last year, I tried running my kitchen remodel with just weekly check-ins, and half the time we’d end up talking in circles about stuff someone had already fixed or changed. Switched to a shared Google Drive folder with photos and notes, and suddenly everyone was on the same page—plus I could scroll through updates while eating breakfast instead of sitting through another endless meeting. Still, nothing beats poking around in person when you suspect something’s off behind a wall... but for the day-to-day, digital wins for me too.

- Digital tracking sounds way more efficient, especially for documenting changes, but I keep wondering about version control.
- If multiple people are uploading photos or notes, how do you keep it organized?
- I’m worried I’ll end up with a mess of files and nobody knows which is the latest update.
- Did you run into any confusion with file names or updates getting lost?
- I’m tempted to go all-digital for my bathroom reno, but the idea of missing something critical because it’s buried in a folder stresses me out...
