Definitely been there.
My last bathroom update turned into a saga because we kept “just talking” through changes—no notes, just crossed wires. Ended up with two different tile patterns in the same room. Now I jot everything down, even if it’s just scribbles in a notebook or a quick phone pic. Saves money and sanity.“Old houses especially… surprises pop up and decisions get made on the fly.”
- Totally get where you’re coming from—old houses are full of curveballs.
- I’ve had similar “wait, I thought we agreed on that?” moments. My kitchen reno turned into a comedy of errors because we didn’t write stuff down.
- Even a messy list or a quick group text helps. Doesn’t have to be fancy.
- Weekly meetings sound good in theory, but honestly, sometimes just snapping a photo or jotting a note in the moment is what saves you.
- It’s wild how fast things can go sideways when everyone’s just winging it... but hey, at least you’ve got a unique bathroom now.
Honestly, I get the appeal of quick texts or snapping a photo, but for me, that stuff gets lost way too easily.
Maybe, but when you’re trying to keep track of receipts, paint colors, and which wall is getting demo’d next, it adds up fast. I tried the “just text it” method and ended up buying the wrong tile twice because no one could find the right info in our chat history. Not saying you need some fancy app, but a shared doc or spreadsheet everyone can see has saved my butt more than once.Even a messy list or a quick group text helps. Doesn’t have to be fancy.
