Choosing between weekly meetings or shared digital models for project sync

I totally get what you mean about the tech gap. I’ve run into that a bunch, especially when working with my dad on projects - he’s old school and swears by his notepad and pen. Last summer, we were redoing the deck, and I tried to keep everything in a shared spreadsheet. He’d humor me, but I’d still find random sticky notes with measurements or lumber codes stuck to the fridge. At least once, we had to make an extra trip to the hardware store because something got lost in translation.

Printing out the latest doc is a smart move. I’ve started doing that too, but sometimes I wonder if it just adds another layer of confusion. Like, which version is the “real” one? There was one time we had two different printouts floating around, and it took us half an hour to figure out why the joist count didn’t match up.

I do like how digital models let you track changes in real time, though. It’s saved my bacon more than once when someone caught a mistake before we bought materials. But then again, there’s something about sitting down together and hashing things out face-to-face that helps catch stuff you’d never think to put in a doc.
