Randomly found out today that the plumbing in most modern houses is designed to work with gravity alone—no pumps or anything. Kinda cool how simple yet effective that is. Wonder if there's other neat plumbing facts floating around out there?

Yeah, gravity-based plumbing is pretty clever. Another neat thing is the U-shaped trap under sinks—simple yet stops sewer gases from creeping back up. Makes me wonder how many other basic but smart designs are hidden around the house...?
