how much did your bathroom remodel run you (roughly)?

I get the appeal of heated floors, but honestly, I feel like they're a bit overrated for most bathrooms. Sure, stepping onto warm tiles on a freezing morning sounds dreamy, but unless you're spending serious time barefoot in there (spa vibes?), I'm not convinced it's worth the extra cost and hassle. Plus, if anything goes wrong down the line, repairs can be a nightmare.

I second your shout-out to cork flooring thoughβ€”super underrated choice. I used it in my own remodel and it's surprisingly comfy and warm without breaking the bank. As for DIY... well, let's just say I attempted tiling myself once and ended up calling in backup halfway through. Sometimes saving money upfront just means paying double later when you realize you're not as handy as YouTube led you to believe... lesson learned the hard way!

Did cork flooring hold up well to moisture long-term? I've been considering it, but my bathroom gets pretty steamy... worried about warping or mold issues down the road. Curious how yours has fared so far.

I've heard cork can handle moisture okay if it's sealed properly, but honestly, long-term in a steamy bathroom... I'd be cautious. My cousin had cork flooring and ended up switching to vinyl plank after a few years due to warping issues.

Yeah, cork can be tricky in bathrooms. Even sealed, moisture eventually finds a wayβ€”especially if your bathroom gets steamy regularly. I renovated a rental property last year and went with vinyl plank flooring. Installation was straightforward, and it's held up great so far. Cost-wise, flooring alone ran me about $600 for a smallish bathroom (around 50 sq ft). Total remodel, including fixtures and labor, came out to roughly $4k... but prices vary a ton depending on your area and material choices.

- Just finished remodeling our 1920s bathroomβ€”went with hex tile flooring for authenticity.
- Materials alone were around $1,200 (small bath, about 45 sq ft).
- Labor and fixtures pushed total to nearly $6k... historic charm ain't cheap, but worth every penny.
