Heated floors were my one “treat yourself” moment during our remodel, and honestly, I don’t regret it for a second. The rest was pretty bare-bones—basic subway tile, off-the-shelf vanity, nothing too wild. But stepping onto a warm floor in the morning? That’s a game changer, especially in winter.

We tried to keep costs down everywhere else, but I did end up paying a plumber for the rough-in. I’ve seen what happens when people try to DIY that part and... yeah, not worth the risk. Tile alignment nearly broke me, though. I thought I was being so careful, but by the time I got to the last wall, things had shifted just enough to drive me nuts. Did anyone else have to redo sections, or is that just me being picky?

All in, we landed around $7k, mostly because of the heated floor splurge and some unexpected plumbing fixes. Curious if anyone found a way to get that “luxury” feel without blowing the budget?

Heated floors are the dream, honestly. I didn’t go that route (maybe next time), but I totally get the appeal—cold tile in the morning is brutal. My “splurge” was a rainfall showerhead and a slightly fancier light fixture. Everything else was pretty standard, like you—basic tile, stock vanity, nothing custom.

I had a similar tile headache. Thought I was being super precise, but by the end, there were a couple spots where the lines just didn’t match up. Drove me nuts for a while, but now I barely notice unless I’m looking for it. Guess you just have to let some things go or you’ll never finish.

All in, mine was about $5k, mostly because I did a lot myself and skipped anything too fancy. The showerhead and lighting made it feel way more “spa” than I expected, though. Sometimes it’s just one or two upgrades that make the whole space feel special.

Rainfall showerheads are a game changer, right? I swear, it’s the one thing that makes me feel like I’m living in a hotel, even if the rest of the bathroom is just “meh.” I hear you on the tile lines—my last flip had a couple spots where the grout lines went rogue. Drove me nuts at first, but buyers never noticed. Curious, did you do anything with storage? I always debate if built-ins are worth the hassle or if a basic vanity does the trick.

Rainfall showerheads really do make the whole space feel upgraded, even if the rest is basic. About storage—built-ins look great, but honestly, unless you’re desperate for every inch, a solid vanity usually gets the job done. Less hassle, less dust, and way cheaper. I did built-in shelves once and swore I’d never mess with that much drywall again unless I had to.

Preach. Drywall dust is like glitter—once it’s in your house, you’ll be finding it for months. I totally get the appeal of built-ins, but unless you’re living in a shoebox or just love the look, a good vanity is way less headache. Plus, you can swap it out down the line if your style changes (or if you get tired of cleaning around all those nooks).

Rainfall showerheads are the MVP though. It’s wild how something so simple can make you feel like you’re at a spa, even if your bathroom still has that “builder beige” tile from 1998. I’ve done a few flips where we just upgraded the showerhead and vanity, and people acted like we gutted the whole place. Sometimes it’s the little stuff that makes the biggest difference... and saves your sanity (and wallet) in the process.
