We spent around $8k total, but that was with us doing the demo and painting ourselves. Labor costs can really swing the price. Did you plan on DIYing some stuff or hiring it all out?

"sometimes older fixtures can clash with the new design"

Yeah, learned that one the hard way...tried reusing our old faucet because it was still perfectly functional, but once everything else was updated, it stuck out like a sore thumb. Ended up replacing it anyway, so didn't save much there.

We ended up around $10k, but honestly, it felt like death by a thousand cuts. Thought we'd save big by DIYing tile work and painting, but then little things kept popping up—like fixtures.

Yeah, same here. We kept our old vanity lights thinking they'd blend in fine...nope. Once the new vanity and mirror went in, they looked super dated. Had to replace them anyway, so lesson learned: budget for those small details upfront or they'll sneak up on you later.

Ha, totally relate to this:

"budget for those small details upfront or they'll sneak up on you later."

Every remodel I've done, it's always the little stuff—switch plates, towel bars, even grout sealer—that quietly eats away at the budget. You're definitely not alone there...

Yep, those sneaky little items catch me every time. I remember one remodel where I thought I'd nailed the budget down to the penny... then realized I'd forgotten about door hinges and cabinet knobs—of course, the ones I liked were pricier than expected. Now I always tack on an extra 10% to the budget just for those pesky details. Lesson learned the hard way, haha.

Haha, isn't it funny how those little things always sneak up on you? I've been there more times than I'd like to admit. Ever forget about grout sealer or caulk? Those tiny tubes add up fast. Your 10% buffer is smart—honestly, I usually bump mine closer to 15%, just to be safe. But hey, at least now you're prepared for next time, right?
