Curious if you’ve noticed any difference with just fans versus a dehumidifier? Sometimes I wonder if I’m overthinking it, but I’d rather not spend money on demo unless it’s really necessary.

I get what you mean about not wanting to jump into demo work. But honestly, I’ve found those moisture absorber packs are kind of hit or miss—maybe they help a little, but in my experience, a small dehumidifier actually made a bigger difference than just running fans. Fans move air, sure, but they don’t really pull moisture out. Have you checked your humidity levels with a cheap meter? Sometimes the numbers are higher than you’d expect, especially in older houses. Just wondering if that might be worth checking before spending on anything else.

Funny timing—my closet basically turned into a rainforest last summer. I tried just fans at first, but honestly, it was like blowing air on a wet towel. Once I grabbed a cheap humidity gauge and saw it hitting 70%, I caved and got a mini dehumidifier. The difference was pretty obvious after a couple days. Have you checked if your closet has any weird cold spots or drafts? Sometimes that’s what’s messing with the moisture, not just the air flow.

I get what you mean about the dehumidifier making a difference, but I’ve always wondered if those things just mask a bigger problem. In my place (built in the 1920s), I found that sealing up every draft actually made the moisture worse—almost like the air needed somewhere to go. Ever tried just cracking the closet door or adding a vent? Sometimes old houses just need to breathe, you know?
