Did anyone else catch that local news segment yesterday about the guy who tried to DIY his kitchen demolition and ended up accidentally knocking out a load-bearing wall? I mean, yikes. They showed pictures and it looked like a tornado went through thereβ€”half the ceiling caved in, cabinets everywhere, total chaos. The homeowner said he watched some YouTube vids and thought "how hard could it be?" Famous last words, right?

Anyway, it got me thinking because I've been considering tackling my own kitchen remodel soon. I'm all for saving money and doing stuff myself, but now I'm kinda second-guessing whether it's worth the risk. I mean, I know you gotta shut off utilities and stuff first, but clearly there's more to it than just swinging a sledgehammer around.

Curious if anyone here has done their own kitchen demo before and how it went. Did you run into any unexpected disasters or was it pretty straightforward?
