Masking tape labels are genius—wish I’d thought of that before my last attic adventure. I always end up with mystery ducts and a lot of second-guessing. And yeah, those gloves are lifesavers... but I still manage to get itchy somehow. Maybe it’s just me?

I hear you on the itch—fiberglass insulation gets me every time, gloves or not. I’ve started using those disposable coveralls, which help a bit. Curious, have you ever had to replace any ductwork over the years, or is it all still original?

I hear you on the fiberglass—no matter what I wear, it finds a way in. As for ductwork, I actually had to replace a section about ten years back. The old stuff was original from the ‘40s and honestly, it was a mess inside. I know some folks swear by keeping everything original, but sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet for better airflow and less dust. Not sure leaving it all untouched is worth the nostalgia, at least not for my sinuses.

Totally get where you’re coming from—nostalgia’s nice, but breathing’s nicer. When I opened up my old returns, the amount of dust and mystery crud was wild. Swapping to new ductwork made a huge difference for allergies around here. Did you notice any change in your heating/cooling bills after you replaced that section? Sometimes folks underestimate how much those old ducts leak air...

Man, you’re not kidding about the “mystery crud.” I once found a petrified crayon and what I think was a mouse disco ball in mine. Swapping out old ductwork is totally worth it—my energy bills actually dipped a bit after the upgrade. Not a fortune, but enough to notice. Plus, way less sneezing. Hang in there; 20 years on an HVAC is like dog years for appliances... you’re definitely due for some good luck!
