“...just run a thin wire to the shady spots? It’s not perfect, but it saves me from running extension cords everywhere...”

- I’ve tried the clip-on solar panels too. They’re decent, but I still get uneven charging if there’s too much shade, especially in winter.
- Rechargeable AAAs are a good call, but honestly, I always forget to swap them out until the lights die. Not ideal for set-it-and-forget-it types.
- Extension cords are a pain—tripped over one last summer and nearly took out a planter.

Has anyone messed with low-voltage landscape wiring? Seems like more work upfront, but maybe less hassle long-term?

Low-voltage landscape wiring is actually a pretty solid option if you’re tired of messing with batteries and extension cords. I put it in a couple years ago for my path lights and haven’t looked back. It’s a bit of a pain to trench the wire at first, but once it’s in, you just set a timer and forget about it. No more dead batteries or tripping hazards. The only thing is, you’ll need access to an outdoor outlet for the transformer, but after that, it’s smooth sailing. Definitely less hassle in the long run, at least in my experience.
