Those wallpaper layers are no joke... when we started stripping ours, it was like an archaeological dig. Floral patterns from the 70s, pastel stripes from the 80s, and some weird textured stuff I couldn't even date. But yeah, totally agree on the rebates—our energy provider had a similar deal when we replaced our old windows. Covered a good chunk of the cost, and honestly, the difference in comfort was noticeable right away. One thing I'd add is to check if your city or county has any additional incentives. We found out after the fact that our town offered a small rebate for energy-efficient appliances too. Wish we'd known earlier, could've saved a bit more cash. Anyway, good luck with the rest of your project—it's messy and frustrating at times, but definitely worth it in the end.

Removing wallpaper is always a wild ride—I've seen homeowners uncover some seriously questionable design choices over the years. Sounds like you've already tackled some of the hardest parts, so you're definitely on the right track. Good call on checking for local incentives too; those extra rebates can really add up. And honestly, once you get past the messy stage, you'll look back and realize it was worth every bit of frustration. Hang in there... it'll be great when it's done.

Totally agree, wallpaper removal is basically DIY archaeology—you never know what ancient civilization of bad taste you're about to uncover. Last time I peeled back some floral monstrosity from the 80s, I found an even worse bright orange geometric pattern underneath. Felt like the house was trolling me. Good thinking on the rebates too; I snagged one for energy-efficient windows last year—pretty sweet deal. Messy projects always test your sanity, but trust me, the bragging rights alone make it worth it.

Haha, that's exactly how it felt when I tackled my last fixer-upper. Under three layers of wallpaper (seriously, who does that?), I found this bizarre metallic silver pattern straight out of a sci-fi movie from the 70s. Curious, did you find the rebate process straightforward? I've been eyeing some insulation upgrades but heard mixed reviews on paperwork hassles...

I totally get the wallpaper saga—found some neon floral nightmare under mine once, straight outta grandma's guest room circa 1968. Anyway, rebate paperwork wasn't too bad for me; just keep receipts organized and double-check deadlines...saved me a decent chunk on insulation.
