I've always been a bit on the fence about limewash, honestly. You mentioned,

“it’s way easier to paint over limewash than to try stripping regular paint.”
I get that, but does anyone worry about the long-term impact on original brick? My house is early 1900s and I’m nervous about any finish that might trap moisture or change how the brick ages. Have you noticed any issues with the brick underneath over time? I’ve heard mixed things from restoration folks—some swear by leaving old brick alone. Just curious if anyone’s run into problems down the road.
