We're renovating the bathroom and kitchen floors, and I'm kinda stuck between electric mats and hydronic pipes. Electric mats seem easier to install and cheaper upfront, but I've heard hydronic is more efficient long-term...but also more complicated? Um, I don't wanna regret my choice later, you know. Anyone here tried either of these methods? Which one did you go with and why?

Yeah, you're spot on about hydronic being more efficient in the long run. I went with electric mats for our bathroom reno last year—mostly because the install seemed straightforward and I didn't wanna mess around too much with plumbing. It's been great so far, but honestly, if I were doing a larger area like a kitchen too, I'd probably lean toward hydronic for the efficiency factor. Are you planning to DIY or hiring someone?

We went hydronic when we redid the floors in our old Victorian, and let me tell you...it was definitely an adventure. The plumber practically became part of the family by the end of it, lol. But yeah, you're right—once it's in, it's super efficient and feels amazing underfoot. Electric mats probably would've saved us some headaches upfront though:

Totally get that logic. If I had to do just a small bathroom again, I'd probably skip the plumbing drama too.
