Yeah, I’ve had foam inserts turn into a science experiment too—pulled out a handful of mushrooms once. Mesh is definitely easier to check, but I still get pine needles stuck in the corners. Guess there’s no perfect fix, just less annoying ones...

I hear you on the pine needles—those things find their way into every nook, no matter what you use. I tried those brush-style gutter guards once, thinking they'd be easier to clean, but they just trapped more debris and made it harder to scoop out. Honestly, I’ve found that just doing a quick check after a big storm saves me more hassle than any insert or guard. Not perfect, but at least I’m not dealing with mushrooms... yet.
