Title: Keeping mold away from your shower—my favorite lazy hack

I’m with you on the plastic liners—those things always end up looking sad and smelling weird. Here’s my go-to routine for keeping mold at bay (without too much effort): after a shower, I just squeegee the walls and floor quickly. Takes like 30 seconds, no joke. Then I leave the curtain open so air can actually get in there. It’s not fancy but it really cuts down on that musty smell. Tried fancy sprays and gadgets before, but honestly, sometimes it’s just about doing the small stuff consistently... even if it’s boring.

I’m with you on the squeegee—seriously underrated tool. I also swapped out my old curtain for a cheap polyester one that dries way faster than vinyl. Less moisture hanging around means less mold, and it’s easier on the wallet too. Not glamorous, but it works.

Swapping to polyester was a game changer for me too, honestly. I used to think vinyl was easier to clean, but it just held onto water and started smelling weird after a while. My routine now is: quick squeegee swipe, then I pull the curtain closed so it dries faster. Not fancy, but it keeps the mildew away. The only thing I still struggle with is those little corners at the bottom—sometimes they still get a bit musty. Anyone else notice that, or is it just my old house?

Those bottom corners are always tricky, no matter what I try. I switched to polyester too—definitely easier to keep clean and dries faster, but yeah, the corners still get a bit funky sometimes. I started putting a cheap little fan in the bathroom for a while after showers, and it actually helped a bit with the mustiness. Not a perfect fix, but better than scrubbing every week. Old houses just seem to hang onto moisture more, in my experience.

Ain’t that the truth. I swear, my 1920s place could double as a rainforest some days. I actually caulked the bottom corners with clear silicone and it made a bigger difference than I expected. Not glamorous, but it beats chasing mold with a toothbrush every weekend. That little fan trick is underrated too—sometimes the simplest stuff works best.
