Keeping mold away from your shower—my favorite lazy hack

Totally get where you're coming from with the fan upgrade. I flipped an older bungalow last year, and the bathroom was basically a mold magnet—no window, no vent, nothing. Tried all the quick fixes first (vinegar sprays, plug-ins, you name it), but eventually bit the bullet and installed a proper fan. Night and day difference. Sometimes the "lazy" hacks just delay the inevitable, haha... Glad you found something that works!

Haha, so true. I live in a historic home, and trust me, I've tried every shortcut imaginable to keep mold at bay. Eventually, I realized that investing in proper ventilation was the only real solution. But hey, those quick fixes aren't all bad—they buy you some time and teach you what doesn't work. Glad you finally found your fix... feels good when you finally beat the mold monster, doesn't it?

Haha, yeah ventilation is definitely key, but honestly, I've found even that isn't always a permanent fix, especially in older homes. Had a 1930s cottage once, and no matter what ventilation system we installed, moisture just seemed to love hanging around. Eventually, the real game-changer for us was switching to mold-resistant paint and caulking. It felt like cheating at first (I mean, paint? really?), but it seriously cut down on how often we had to scrub everything clean.

I agree those lazy hacks aren't permanent solutions, but sometimes they're more effective than you'd think. Plus, isn't it funny how some things labeled 'lazy' end up working better than expected? Guess it depends on each house and its quirks...

We had a similar issue in our old place—no matter how much we aired it out, mold kept creeping back. Ended up trying this cheap trick someone mentioned: spraying diluted vinegar after every shower. It sounded too simple to actually work, but surprisingly, it helped a ton. Still had to scrub occasionally, but way less often. Makes me wonder... has anyone tried other kitchen-cabinet remedies that unexpectedly worked?

Funny you mention vinegar—I once went down a rabbit hole trying to battle mold in an old fixer-upper bathroom. After a bunch of failed attempts with store-bought cleaners, I stumbled onto baking soda paste (just baking soda and water). Honestly, it felt like I was frosting a cake rather than cleaning tiles, but hey, desperate times...

Anyway, smeared it on the grout lines, left it overnight (mostly because I got distracted binge-watching something), and next morning scrubbed lightly with an old toothbrush. Surprisingly effective! Not exactly magic—still had to repeat every few weeks—but way less elbow grease required.

Also tried tea tree oil once because someone swore by it online. Smelled like a spa exploded in there for days, but didn't really notice much difference mold-wise. So yeah, kitchen cabinet hacks can be hit or miss...but at least they're cheap experiments, right?
