Regretting my fridge placement—anyone else have workflow issues?

Totally get where you’re coming from. I’ve run into the same thing—sometimes you just have to break away from what the previous owners did, even if it “looked” right. I used to think keeping the fridge tucked away was best, but after moving it closer to the prep area, everything just worked better. It’s wild how much difference a few feet can make. Don’t sweat changing things up if it makes your day-to-day easier. At the end of the day, you’re the one using the space, not some design magazine.

Yeah, it’s wild how much a tiny shift in layout can change the whole vibe. I used to think I was being “eco-friendly” by keeping my fridge out of the sunniest spot, but honestly, having it closer to where I chop veggies just saves me so much time (and probably energy from not leaving the door open as long). Sometimes you gotta trust your own flow over what looks good in a staged photo. Design magazines don’t have to live with your morning coffee routine, right?

Exactly—those magazine kitchens look stunning, but I swear half of them are designed for people who never actually cook. I once had a client who wanted the fridge hidden behind a wall for “aesthetics.” Looked great... until she realized she was walking laps just to grab milk. Curious, has anyone here actually regretted going for the “hidden appliance” trend?

Not sure I totally agree with the hidden appliance hate—I've seen it work pretty well in higher-end rentals. Here’s what I’ve noticed:

- Hidden fridges can boost resale value if done right, especially in open-plan spaces.
- Workflow issues usually come down to poor planning, not just the “hidden” part.
- I’d rather have a slightly longer walk than a giant stainless box ruining the vibe... but yeah, if you cook a lot, it can get old fast.

Guess it’s all about knowing your own habits before you commit.

I hear you on the “giant stainless box ruining the vibe”—that’s why I went with panels too. Still, I underestimated how much I’d miss having the fridge closer to the prep zone. Did you map out your kitchen workflow before deciding, or just go with aesthetics first?
