Title: Regretting my fridge placement—anyone else have workflow issues?

Honestly, I always prioritize function over looks, especially with kitchens. Aesthetics are nice, but if you’re constantly walking back and forth for ingredients, it gets old fast. I’ve seen buyers get turned off by awkward layouts, even if the finishes are top-notch. Sometimes that “giant stainless box” is worth it.

Totally get where you’re coming from. When we remodeled our kitchen, I thought tucking the fridge into a corner would “open up” the space. Looked great in photos, but now I’m zig-zagging around the island every time I need milk or veggies. My partner jokes it’s our daily cardio. Honestly, I’d trade the sleek look for a more practical setup any day. Sometimes those design trends just don’t work out in real life...

That’s exactly what I’m worried about as I plan my own remodel. It’s wild how much those “open” layouts can backfire once you’re actually living with them. I keep reading about the kitchen work triangle and honestly, it makes sense—having the fridge, stove, and sink close together seems way more practical than just going for aesthetics. Sometimes the most popular trends just aren’t worth the hassle day-to-day...

Honestly, the work triangle isn’t just some old-school idea—it actually holds up in real life. I’ve seen so many kitchens where the fridge is stuck on the far end just because it “looked balanced” in the renderings, but then you’re running laps every time you prep dinner. Have you noticed if your island is helping or making things worse? Sometimes those massive islands just get in the way more than anything...

Honestly, I kinda like having the fridge a bit out of the way. My last kitchen had everything crammed together and it felt like bumper cars with the family. The island’s a pain sometimes, but at least I’m not tripping over people every five seconds... trade-offs, I guess.
