I'm finishing up some plans for the kitchen remodel, and we're stuck on where exactly to put the outlets. One option is down low, close to the floor/baseboards, which seems cleaner visually but maybe a bit annoying if you're plugging stuff in regularly. The other idea is putting them at countertop height—easy access for appliances and chargers and stuff, but I'm worried it'll clutter the look of the backsplash area.

I mean, I know it sounds trivial, but little things like this can drive you nuts over time, right? Anyone done either way and regretted it later? Or maybe loved the decision? Um, just trying to avoid future outlet-related irritation here...

We have countertop-height outlets in our old place, and honestly, I wouldn't trade them for anything. Sure, visually they're not perfect, but the convenience factor is huge—no more bending down awkwardly to plug in mixers or blenders. Plus, we've found ways to camouflage them with outlet covers that match the backsplash tile. If you're worried about clutter, maybe look into those pop-up or under-cabinet outlets? They're discreet and still easy to reach. Just my two cents after years of living with a historic kitchen...

Totally agree with this. After remodeling a couple kitchens myself, countertop-height outlets are a lifesaver. And honestly, once you match them to your backsplash, they're barely noticeable anyway... convenience wins every time for me.

I'm with you on countertop-height outlets. When we first moved into our old house, all the outlets were down near the baseboards—typical for older homes, I guess. It was a real pain, especially when using appliances like mixers or coffee makers. After finally biting the bullet and installing a few outlets at counter level (carefully matching them to our subway tile backsplash), I can't imagine going back. Sure, it might not be historically accurate, but sometimes practicality just has to win out...
