Funny you mention the spiralizer—last month I pulled out a bread machine from the back of a pantry I swear I’ve never seen before. Happens to the best of us. On the hardware side, you nailed it with drawer slides. I once had a client pick bargain hinges, and by year three, every cabinet door was sagging like a tired eyelid. If my budget doubled, I’d splurge on custom pull-outs for pots and pans—no more crawling on hands and knees. As for compost bins, I’ve installed a few “fancy” ones that turned into science experiments... sometimes simpler is just better.

Custom pull-outs are the dream, right? I swear half my kitchen time is spent digging for that one pan wedged in the back. And yeah, those “fancy” compost bins always seem to turn into a biology lesson gone wrong... Sometimes a simple bucket just wins.

If my budget doubled, I’d probably still skip the custom pull-outs, honestly. I know they look amazing, but I’ve seen friends get them and then end up just shoving stuff in there anyway. Half the time, it’s just another place for things to get lost. As for the compost bin, I get what you mean about the “biology lesson gone wrong,” but I actually like the fancy ones with charcoal filters—less stink, at least in theory. Sometimes the simple bucket leaks or gets gross way faster for me. Maybe it’s just my luck?

Honestly, I’ve seen custom pull-outs work wonders if they’re planned right—especially for deep lower cabinets. The trick is making sure you actually use them for the stuff you reach for most, not just as extra storage for random gadgets. Otherwise, yeah, things just migrate to the back again. As for compost bins, I’ve had both types get gross, but the fancier ones at least keep the smell down until you empty them... assuming you remember to empty them.

- Couldn’t agree more—seen too many “fancy” pull-outs turn into graveyards for old blenders and mystery Tupperware.
- If my budget doubled, I’d splurge on soft-close everything and maybe a hidden snack drawer (for “emergencies”).
- Compost bins: yeah, even the high-end ones get gross if you forget about ‘em. Pro tip—line it with newspaper. Less stink, less mess.
