So I've been dealing with a clogged sink wayyy too often lately and figured it's finally time to get one of those sink catcher thingies. Did a quick search and seems like most folks go either mesh metal or silicone. I mean, mesh seems like it would catch more stuff, but I keep imagining bits of food getting all stuck in there and being a pain to clean out. Silicone sounds easier to clean, but I'm wondering if it actually catches enough debris or if stuff slips by.
Anyone here used both or at least one of these types? I don't wanna spend forever scrubbing tiny holes clear of veggie bits every night, you know, but I also don't wanna have to snake the drain every other week. Curious what you guys think is more practical in the long run...
I've tried both actually, and honestly silicone wins hands down for me.

Exactly this. Mesh catches everything, sure, but cleaning it is such a hassle—especially rice or tiny veggie bits. Silicone might let a few tiny crumbs slip by occasionally, but it's way easier to flip inside out and rinse off quickly. Plus silicone ones are usually cheaper too...bonus points for budget-friendly!
Yeah silicone's definitely easier to clean, but honestly I've had better luck with mesh catching smaller stuff. I just give it a quick scrub with an old toothbrush—works pretty well and doesn't take long at all. Guess it's just personal preference in the end...
