Yeah, I've definitely been there... first time I tried damp sanding, I got a little carried away and ended up with some shallow spots. Learned pretty quick to go easy and check often—it's all about finding that sweet spot between smoothness and caution.

Been there myself, drywall sanding is definitely a patience game. Honestly, sounds like you're already figuring it out—checking often is key. Once you get that rhythm down, it gets way less frustrating... trust me.

Couldn't agree more. One thing I'd add—try using a bright work light at an angle. It highlights imperfections you might miss otherwise... saved me from a few "good enough" moments turning into regrets later.

That's a solid point about the angled lighting. I learned that lesson years ago, when I thought I'd nailed a kitchen remodel for a client. Finished up late evening, felt great about it... then the morning sun came streaming in from the side and highlighted every little wave and bump. Had to spend half a day sanding and re-coating. Ever since then, I've been obsessive about checking from multiple angles at different times of day. Drywall can definitely humble you quick.

I've been there with the angled lighting struggle, but honestly, sometimes chasing absolute perfection can drive you nuts. In my historic house, the walls have plenty of imperfections, and I've learned to embrace them rather than fight them. Natural textures and slight irregularities can add character and warmth. Maybe it's just me, but a little imperfection can actually enhance a space... makes it feel lived-in and authentic.
