Hypothetical scenario: walls feel ice-cold, what would you do?
Okay, random thought here... imagine you're sitting at home and every wall feels super chilly to the touch, like even with heating on. Um, would you rip open drywall to add insulation or try something else first? Curious how you'd handle it.

I'd probably hold off on tearing into drywall right away... maybe check for drafts around windows and outlets first? I've had friends who found huge improvements just sealing those up, plus it's way less messy than insulation work. Have you tried anything like that yet?
"maybe check for drafts around windows and outlets first?"
Yeah, this is solid advice. I've seen a lot of folks jump straight into insulation projects when the real issue was just sneaky drafts. A client of mine once complained about freezing walls, but after we sealed up gaps around their outlets and window frames, they were amazed at the difference - no drywall mess needed. Have you checked your baseboards too? Sometimes cold air slips in right along the flooring...
Good point about the baseboards - I overlooked mine at first and spent ages messing with window seals. Turned out cold air was sneaking in right along the floor trim. Quick caulk job made a noticeable difference without tearing anything apart. Worth checking before diving into bigger fixes...

Had a similar issue in our old place - walls felt freezing even with heat cranked up. Turns out insulation was fine, but gaps around electrical outlets were letting cold air seep in. A few foam outlet gaskets later, things improved noticeably without any drywall drama.
Yeah, those outlet gaps are sneaky little culprits. Had the same chilly-wall mystery and drove myself nuts checking windows and doors until I stumbled onto the outlet trick. Another thing that helped was hanging thicker curtains - sounds simple, but it made a surprising difference. Plus, gave me an excuse to freshen up the room decor a bit... win-win, right?

Interesting you mention curtains... I've seen them help a bit, but usually they're more of a band-aid than a real fix. Have you checked if your insulation is up to par? Sometimes older homes have insulation that's settled or deteriorated over time, leaving cold spots behind the drywall. Might be worth looking into, especially if you're noticing persistent cold walls despite sealing outlets and windows.
