"Natural textures and slight irregularities can add character and warmth."

Couldn't agree more with this. But I'm curious—do you find certain imperfections easier to embrace than others? In my old place, I've got these subtle waves in the plaster walls that catch the afternoon sun just right... honestly, they've grown on me. But then there's this one spot near the staircase that's always bugged me a bit. Maybe it's because it's at eye-level or something?

Also makes me wonder, is there a line between charming imperfection and something that genuinely feels unfinished? Like, how do you decide when to stop fussing over smoothing drywall joints and just let it be? I guess everyone's threshold is different, but it'd be interesting to hear how others navigate that balance.

I totally get that struggle with imperfections at eye-level—it's like your eyes just can't help but zoom right in on it, right? I've found that imperfections feel more charming when they're subtle enough to blend into the overall vibe rather than standing out as a distraction. Like your plaster waves catching the sunlight—that sounds beautiful, actually. Reminds me of an old rental I had where the hardwood floors had these worn spots from decades of footsteps... at first, I wanted to refinish them, but after a while, they became my favorite feature.

As for drywall joints, I think there's definitely a tipping point. For me, it's usually when I'm spending way too many evenings obsessing over one tiny seam that no one else will ever notice. At some point, I just step back and remind myself that homes are meant to be lived in—not perfected. Maybe it's about embracing the story behind those little quirks rather than chasing perfection?

Yeah, drywall joints can be a real rabbit hole. I remember when we first moved into our fixer-upper, I spent hours sanding and re-mudding this one seam in our hallway. It drove me nuts because every time the light hit it just right, I'd see that tiny ripple or bump. My husband, meanwhile, couldn't even see what I was talking about and thought I was losing my mind, haha.

Eventually, I had to just walk away. Funny thing is, now I hardly notice it anymore—it's like my brain finally decided to stop obsessing because life got busier. You're totally right about imperfections adding character though. Our kitchen cabinets have these little paint drips from when we DIY'd them on a tight budget. At first it bugged me, but now they're kind of like reminders of how far we've come with the house... imperfections and all.
