So yesterday I get home from work and there's this official-looking envelope from the city. I'm thinking, great, jury duty again or something. But nope, turns out someone reported my backyard shed for being "non-compliant" with local building regs. Like, seriously? It's a shed. I built it myself last summer, nothing fancy, just a place to stash the mower and some tools. Didn't even cross my mind that there'd be rules about sheds.
Anyway, the letter says I gotta either fix it or tear it down within 30 days. But here's the kickerβthey didn't even say what's wrong with it! Just some vague reference to "setback requirements" and "structural standards." Um, okay, thanks for the clarity, city hall.
Now I'm picturing some inspector with a clipboard sneaking around my yard, measuring tape in hand, shaking their head disapprovingly at my amateur carpentry skills. Kinda funny, kinda annoying.
Wondering if anyone else has dealt with something like this. Or maybe we can spin this into a storyβlike, what if the shed inspector stumbled onto something totally unexpected back there...
