So, I was finally tackling the attic renovation I've been putting off forever (mostly because it's spooky as heck up there, you know, cobwebs and weird creaks). Anyway, inspector comes by and starts rattling off all these rules about joists and insulation and fire codes...and now I'm totally lost. Like, I just wanted a cool hangout space, not a master's degree in structural engineering. Anyone else had a project derailed by surprise code requirements?
