We've had composite decking for about three years now, and yeah, slipperiness can be a pain. I found that using a diluted vinegar solution every few months helps cut down on algae buildup without costing much. Quick scrub, rinse off, done. And gravel...don't get me started. Pulled ours out two summers ago, and I'm still hitting rocks with the mower.

Haha, same here. Gravel seems like a good idea until you're dodging projectiles every mowing session. About composite decking—I've noticed slipperiness too, especially in shaded areas. Your vinegar trick sounds solid; I've also had luck with a stiff-bristle broom after heavy rains to keep algae from settling in the first place. Less buildup means fewer scrubbing sessions overall...

I feel your pain on the gravel—I swear mine multiplies overnight. Every mow session feels like a risky game of dodgeball with my ankles as targets. On composite decking, I've been curious about it myself, but the slipperiness stories make me hesitate. Does anyone know if certain brands or textures are better at preventing slips? I've seen some with a rougher grain pattern, wondering if that actually helps or if it's just marketing hype...

I've heard the rougher grain textures do help a bit, but honestly, nothing beats actual samples underfoot. Maybe it's worth grabbing some pieces and testing them out when wet—better safe than sorry, right? Has anyone here done that before committing?

Did exactly that when I redid my patio last summer—grabbed a few samples, sprayed them down, and walked barefoot. Felt a bit silly at first, but honestly, saved me from picking something way too slippery. You're definitely on the right track.
