Yeah, that’s a lesson I picked up too. Ended up cutting one of the acrylic panels down twice because I was off by a hair—nothing like trying to fudge a “custom” fit after the fact… Still, way less hassle than dealing with full window replacements and the permits that come with those.
I ran into some pushback from our HOA as well, mostly around “changing the building exterior.” Had to show them that interior storms don’t actually alter anything outside. Once they saw how subtle they look, they pretty much dropped it.
Heat savings weren’t massive for me either, but it did cut down on drafts in a couple of problem rooms. Not perfect, but better than nothing. If you’re dealing with an older building and red tape, definitely worth looking at before you get sucked into a whole replacement project.
