Been looking into solar setups for my house lately, and honestly, the inverter part is kinda throwing me off. There's string inverters, microinverters, hybrid ones...and each seems to have its own pros and cons. I'm leaning towards microinverters because of shading issues on my roof (big ol' tree next door), but they're pricier. Anyone here have experience with different inverter types? Curious if the extra cost for microinverters is really worth it or if it's just marketing hype.
I went through the same confusion last year when we installed our panels. We ended up going with microinverters because half our roof gets shaded by the neighbor's monster oak tree (beautiful but a pain, lol). Honestly, I was skeptical about the extra cost at first, but after seeing how well each panel performs independently, even with shade issues, I'm convinced it was worth it. Our friends went with a string inverter and they're always complaining about how one shaded panel drags down their whole system. Just my two cents...
