We've got this sunroom attached to our house, and my mom loves spending time there, especially in the mornings. But lately she's been having a bit more trouble getting around (mobility-wise), and I'm thinking we might need to tweak things a bit. Maybe rearrange furniture or add some kind of ramp or railing? Not sure what's best or even where to start, honestly...anyone dealt with something similar or have suggestions?

Been there myself with our old Victorian porch—making it accessible was a challenge at first, but totally doable. Start by rearranging furniture to create clear, wide paths (think walker or wheelchair width). Next, consider adding sturdy grab rails near seating spots and doorways. If there's a step down, a gentle ramp with non-slip surface works wonders. It takes a bit of trial and error, but your mom will definitely appreciate the effort...good luck!

Good tips, especially the grab rails. One thing I'd add—check your flooring too. Our sunroom had these old tiles that got slippery when damp...switched to textured vinyl planks and it made a huge difference. Did you have to change your flooring at all?

Grab rails are a lifesaver, for sure. Flooring was a big one for me too—had this old-school tile that turned into an ice rink whenever it got humid. Thought about vinyl, but ended up going with cork flooring instead. It's comfy underfoot and has a bit of natural grip. Plus, dropping my coffee mug doesn't end in disaster anymore...usually. Did you find the vinyl easy to install yourself, or did you get someone in to do it?

Grab rails definitely help, and cork flooring is a smart choice—good call. Another thing I've found useful is rearranging furniture to create wider pathways. Even just shifting things slightly can make a noticeable difference in accessibility.
