Okay, so I'm redoing our bathroom (finally!) and I'm kinda torn between two pretty different options for the vanity. First option is one of those sleek floating vanitiesβclean lines, modern feel, makes the space look bigger, you know? I like that it gives a minimalist vibe and cleaning underneath seems like it'd be way easier.
But then...I saw someone online who converted an old vintage dresser into a vanity and it looked SO good. Like charming, unique, and kinda cozy. I have an old dresser in the garage that's just collecting dust, so it'd save me some cash too. But I'm worried about water damage or if it'll hold up over time.
Has anyone here done either of these? Or maybe you've had experience with both? Curious to hear what you prefer or if there's something I haven't thought about yet.
I did the dresser-to-vanity thing a couple years back and honestly, it's held up surprisingly well. The key is sealing it properlyβespecially the top and edges around the sink. I used marine-grade varnish (the stuff they use on boats) and it's been pretty bulletproof so far. Plus, everyone who visits comments on how unique it looks. Floating vanities are nice too, but there's something special about repurposing furniture you've already got...
