RE: What would you do if your kid wandered into a half-demo’d kitchen?
Honestly, the “secret agent” angle is a game-changer. My twins will do just about anything if there’s a code name involved. As for demo tasks, I’m in the camp of “supervised chaos” - I’ll let them yank out nails or smash...
RE: Delayed payments driving me nuts - does this ever get easier?
Milestone payments are the only thing keeping my hair from going grey faster than it already is. I’ve had folks try to convince me that “paying at the end” is normal - yeah, for them maybe, but I’m not running a charity....
RE: How Long Does It Really Take To Insulate A House?
Attic hatches are sneaky, right? I once bought a duplex where the previous owner had literally just thrown an old blanket over the hatch - like that was gonna stop anything. You’re spot on about prioritizing leaks. Somet...
RE: Keeping track of renovation plans without losing your mind
Gotta disagree a bit here - accordion folders just end up as organized chaos in my world. I tried color coding, labeling, the whole deal. Still spent ages flipping through tabs looking for the “one” permit or invoice. Sw...

I’ve seen this play out so many times - people think they’re saving a bundle by going DIY, but then it’s “surprise, you need to rip out the shower pan and start over.” That’s when the budget goes out the window and you’r...
RE: Just hit 20 years with the same HVAC - am I just lucky?
Sealing off vents definitely makes sense if you’re not using the whole house, but I’ll admit, in a couple of my rentals, I tried that trick and wound up with some rooms that felt like walk-in freezers when winter hit. Gu...
RE: Kitchen Redesign Adventure: Worth the Hype or Not?
Haha, same here. I went all-in on matte finishes thinking they'd hide smudges better... nope, just different smudges. Now I call it "character." Honestly, kitchens are meant to be lived in, not admired from afar, right?
