RE: Swapping out old faucets and toilets - what brands actually last?
That “universal” label is such a joke sometimes. I’ve been burned by it more than once - especially with toilets from the 50s and 60s. You’d think after all these years, someone would make a flapper that actually fits th...
RE: how much did your bathroom remodel run you (roughly)?
Kept mine just under $2k, and I totally get what you mean about the “while I’m at it” trap. It’s wild how fast those little upgrades snowball. I did a lot of what you mentioned - reused the tub, kept the vanity, and just...
RE: Greener Sleep Spaces: Small Swaps That Made a Big Difference
Totally agree about wool curtains - they sound great until you’re actually living with them. I tried a “natural” wool rug once and it shed everywhere, so I can imagine the daily battle with curtains. For me, I’ve found t...

RE: Finally got my outdoor space looking cozy and inviting
Had a similar experience with Corsican mint myself - thought it'd be the perfect low-maintenance ground cover, but it just sat there looking sad. Sweet woodruff was a solid choice for me too, especially since it's budget...
RE: neighbors installed sound-blocking insulation - does it really work?
Haha, relatable. Green Glue helps, but for footsteps, decoupling's definitely king. If you're on a budget though, thick rugs with dense padding upstairs can surprisingly cut down on the noise... speaking from experience ...
RE: My neighbor's house saves energy...by magic?
Interesting idea, but honestly, siding that absorbs emotions or memories sounds like a homeowner's nightmare waiting to happen. Imagine trying to repaint or replace it - would you lose all those absorbed memories, or wor...
