Did a bathroom remodel last spring and yeah, tile was the worst part by far. Thought I'd breeze through it in a weekendβha! Ended up calling a pro halfway through when my grout lines started looking like abstract art. All said and done, including fixtures and labor, ran me around $8k. Worth every penny for my sanity alone...
Totally relate on the tile struggleβit's deceptively tricky, especially if you're aiming for precision. My remodel ran about $9k, but I went with eco-friendly fixtures and sustainable materials, which bumped up the cost a bit. Honestly though, investing in water-efficient faucets and reclaimed wood cabinetry felt worthwhile. Plus, knowing the materials were responsibly sourced eased my conscience a bit. Curious if anyone else factored sustainability into their remodel budget...
Haha, the tile struggle is realβI swear my bathroom floor still has a slight tilt if you squint hard enough. Props to you for going eco-friendly though; I considered reclaimed wood cabinets too, but my wallet gave me a stern talking-to. Ended up compromising with water-saving fixtures and low-VOC paint, which didn't break the bank but still made me feel like Captain Planet-lite. Definitely worth it for the peace of mind alone...and fewer guilt trips when watching nature documentaries.
"Captain Planet-lite"
Haha, love that! I went the DIY route and thought I'd save a ton, but those surprise trips to the hardware store really added up. Ended up around $4k-ish, mostly because I splurged on a fancy mirror (no regrets). Still, seeing it all come together was pretty satisfying...even if my grout lines are a bit wonky in places.
Went around $7k myself, but I went heavy on aestheticsβcustom tiles, ambient lighting, the works. Totally worth it for resale value, IMO... Did you factor in ROI when choosing upgrades, or just went with personal taste?
