How much can slab prep change a garage-conversion flooring quote?
Flooring estimates for converting an attached garage can be hard to compare when one includes only the finished surface and another includes work to prepare the concrete. How much can moisture mitigation or leveling change the overall cost, if either turns out to be needed?
I’d find it helpful to see slab preparation, flooring, and trim listed separately, along with whether the estimate allows for moisture testing or uneven areas. How do you tell what’s needed to make the floor suitable for living space from optional finish upgrades? Is there a flooring choice that tends to make the scope or price more sensitive to the slab’s condition?

For leveling, the key condition is whether the slab is outside the chosen flooring’s stated flatness tolerance, not just whether it looks uneven. If it’s within tolerance, extra leveling may be a finish upgrade; if not, it’s part of preparing the slab for that product. Does the quote name the flooring product and its tolerance?
