It’s tempting to look for a one-size-fits-all solution, but with older homes, it always seems to come down to matching the right product to the right prep work.

Couldn’t agree more. I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve seen folks get frustrated when “eco” paints don’t behave like latex. Had a client last year who wanted limewash in a basement laundry—looked great for about two months, then started flaking. Turned out there was hidden moisture behind the wall. Sometimes you just have to tackle the root problem first, even if it’s not as satisfying as picking out paint colors. But when you get it right, those mineral finishes really do hold up beautifully. Don’t let one bad experience put you off—just means you’re learning what works for your space.
