Only real annoyance is when crumbs collect around the outlet... but at least I’m not staring at plastic covers all day.

Crumbs in weird places are basically the universe’s way of reminding us we’re not in control, right? I’ve seen folks try to vacuum those out with a turkey baster—doesn’t work, but it’s entertaining. Honestly, side outlets do look slick, and you get used to the reach. The extra wiring cost stings a bit, but you’ll forget about it long before you forget about ugly covers staring back at you every morning.

I hear you on the wiring cost—my last kitchen flip, I nearly choked when I saw the electrician’s bill for those under-cabinet outlets. But honestly, once everything was in and the backsplash looked clean (no outlets breaking up the tile), it felt worth it. Crumbs are just part of life at this point... I’ve given up trying to keep them out of every nook. At least with side outlets, you’re not staring at a wall of plastic every time you make coffee.

That’s exactly why I bit the bullet on the extra wiring too. The clean backsplash just makes the whole kitchen feel more finished, even if my wallet was crying for a bit. I did mess up once and had the outlet too close to the bottom of a cabinet—my toaster plug barely fit. Live and learn, right? The crumb struggle is real, but I’ll take that over ugly outlets any day.

Been there with the outlet placement—my first reno, I put one right behind the stove and had to use a weird angled plug for months. Still, I’d rather wrestle with plugs than have those big white rectangles breaking up the backsplash vibe. Worth it, even if my electrician thinks I’m picky.

Totally get where you’re coming from—those outlets can really mess with the look if they’re smack in the middle of a nice backsplash. Here’s how I see it:

- I’ve had to make some weird choices too, like running an extension cord behind my toaster just to keep things looking clean. Not ideal, but it works.
- Honestly, I’d rather deal with a little plug hassle than stare at a bunch of outlets every time I cook.
- Electricians always seem to think we’re being too picky, but hey, we’re the ones living with it every day.
- If you can save a bit by not moving outlets around too much, that’s a win for the budget. But sometimes it’s worth spending a little extra for the look you want.

In the end, it’s your kitchen and your call. A few awkward plugs are a small price to pay for a space you actually love looking at.
