I’ve been using flat ethernet cables along baseboards, and then hiding them behind reclaimed wood trim. It’s not invisible, but it blends in and doesn’t mean more plastic covers.

That’s actually a clever workaround—love the reclaimed wood idea. I’ve tried running cables behind crown molding, but it’s a pain if you ever need to move things around. And yeah, the mesh routers... why do they all look like props from a sci-fi set? Would it kill them to make one that looks like a vase or a bookend? I’d buy that in a heartbeat.

Right? I swear, every time I set up a new router, it’s like I’m prepping for an alien invasion. I tried tucking mine behind some books but then the signal tanked, so now it just sits there looking awkward and out of place.

I’ve been running cables under rugs and along the wall with those sticky clips, but they always end up popping off after a few months. The reclaimed wood trick sounds way better than my “hope no one notices this mess” strategy.

Honestly, I don’t get why cable management is still such a pain in 2024. You’d think someone would’ve invented invisible ethernet by now... or at least something less ugly than those chunky plastic raceways. Maybe I’m just not crafty enough, but hiding wires feels like half the battle when you’re trying to make a place look decent.

Man, I feel you on the cable chaos. I’ve seen some wild setups in people’s homes—wires everywhere, routers just chilling in the weirdest spots. Honestly, half the time it’s about working with what you’ve got. Don’t beat yourself up over it. Even with all the tricks and tools out there, sometimes you just have to embrace a bit of mess. At least you’re trying to keep things tidy... that’s more than most folks do.

Haha, I’ve literally seen routers perched on top of a fridge or wedged behind a potted plant—like, are we hiding them from the Wi-Fi police? Honestly though, a little chaos is just part of living in a space that actually gets used. I always say: better a few visible cables than dead zones everywhere. You can have the prettiest setup in the world, but if you can’t stream Netflix in bed… what’s the point?
